A lie in the hand of God

In February a person said to me something like “You cannot be helped. Not even God can!”

I came home. Crushed. I had put my all my hope in believing that at least He was had the ability even if I couldn’t see Him. That day these words entered into my heart “Even if everyone gives up I will not. Even if everyone walks away I will not. I will never leave you or abandon you.”

A person can, in frustration and anger, lie and actually even start to believe that lie to be the truth. I surely have spent most of my life telling lies to myself so I know this. We live in a deceiving world where everything is more or less distorted. God is not the issue, it is the lies that we spread about Him, start to believe and adapt as truths that are really deceiving us. Sometimes He pulls us out of deception in forceful ways and sometimes He lets us remain to teach us something. Because He is not a person that can lie. That is one of the things He has no part in. And Gods word, planted in us, is not planted there in vain.

It came back to me that day at the exact right time with all its splendor and it crushed the lie. His word clearly states ”God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”

What are we? ”You sweep them away as with a flood; they are like a dream, like grass that is renewed in the morning: in the morning it flourishes and is renewed; in the evening it fades and withers.” What God says remains for ever and ever. ”Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”

Lies can be a very deadly weapon towards us and it is the thief’s weapon of choice to cripple and kill us. But a lie, ones it is revealed, God can use to lead us into the truth. God does not lie or come towards us with evil in mind, but He has the creative ability to turn lies, deceptions, distortions – anything to something amazing. From that day on I am standing in awe before Him as He exposes one lie after the other that has rooted itself within my soul. Our Creator loves us in a way none of us can fathom even though we here on earth are compared to gras.
